The experience of grief is unique to each individual, but learning about the course of grief and sharing the experience with others can provide comfort after the loss of a loved one. Hospice of the Rapidan provides grief support groups and individual bereavement support to hospice families, friends and caregivers, as well as to the community at large.
These services are offered free of charge to anyone coping with grief after the loss of a loved one, regardless of the circumstances surrounding the loss. Because the grieving process is different for everyone, bereavement support services for hospice families can continue for as much as a year after the loss.
For detailed information, to schedule an appointment, or to see if a bereavement group is currently forming, e-mail our Grief Care Coordinator, Craig Wilt, or call (540)-825-4840.

Wondering if you should attend a support group? See if any of the following apply to you:
- Nobody understands what I’m going through
- I find myself crying inexplicably
- I don’t have anyone to talk to about how I feel
- I didn’t have time to say good-bye
- Stress is interfering with my job
- I’m afraid my friends are tired of listening to me
- I don’t know how to start talking about this
- I’m mad at my loved one for dying ...
- I’m just mad at everybody
And ask yourself:
- Do I need to forgive someone?
- Do I need to forgive myself?
